Acoustic Drywall Partitionwith STC up to 55 Sound Insulation

The PackSound AcoFascia™ Drywall Partition is a high-performance fixed wall system that delivers strong sound insulation while keeping a clean architectural finish. Built for spaces where acoustic control and fire safety both matter, it combines layers of gypsum or cement board, metal framing and acoustic infill to reach STC ratings up to 55.

Walls are 75, 100 or 125 mm thick and up to 4500 mm high, built on GI studs and tracks of 0.5 to 1.2 mm with mineral wool, glass wool or PU infill. Fire resistance reaches up to 120 minutes as per IS 3614 / BS 476, and the wall can take paint, laminate, veneer or acoustic fabric. These acoustic drywall partitions suit cabins, studios, hospitals, hotels and schools. It is a soundproof drywall system that goes up much faster than a brick wall.

Benefits

Drywall partitions build quiet, private rooms quickly, with fire safety and a clean finish. A gypsum board partition is also lighter than masonry, so it suits upper floors and retrofits.

◉

High Sound Insulation

STC up to 55 for private cabins and studios.

≋

Fire Resistance

Up to 120 minutes as per IS 3614 / BS 476.

03

Acoustic Performance

Drywall partitions block sound by combining mass, a cavity and absorption. Layers of gypsum or cement board give the wall mass, the GI stud cavity separates the two faces, and mineral wool or glass wool infill absorbs sound inside the cavity. This is how an acoustic drywall partition with infill reaches STC 55, far above a single board wall.

Sound insulation is measured using the Sound Transmission Class (STC). AcoFascia™ Drywall Partitions reach up to STC 55, depending on board layers, stud type and infill.

Real-world results depend on the details. Gaps at the ceiling, floor and side walls, or unsealed service openings, can let sound bypass even a well built wall, so every junction is sealed with acoustic sealant.

Key factors influencing acoustic performance include:

01

Board LayersDouble boards on each side add mass and raise STC.

02

Cavity InfillMineral wool or glass wool absorbs sound inside the wall.

03

Stud ConfigurationDouble or staggered studs reduce sound passing through the frame.

04

Perimeter SealingAcoustic sealant at every junction stops leaks.

05

Full-Height BuildTaking the wall to the slab stops sound travelling over it.

By keeping conversations and noise inside each room, drywall partitions give offices, hospitals and studios the privacy they need. They are especially effective for cabins, conference rooms, edit suites and patient rooms.

04

Customization Options

Drywall partitions can be configured for the acoustic, fire and design needs of each room. Every gypsum partition wall can be built as a fire rated partition wall with up to 120 minutes resistance.

This flexibility makes them suitable for simple office cabins as well as high-performance studios and hospital zones.

Installation Process

Correct installation is important to achieve the intended sound insulation and fire rating of a drywall partition. Each drywall partition is sealed at every junction before boarding and finishing.

Every junction is sealed with acoustic sealant, as small gaps can reduce the STC result.

Drywall Partition FAQ

What is a drywall partition?

It is a non-load-bearing wall built from GI studs and gypsum or cement boards, often with acoustic infill.

Can it provide sound insulation?

Yes. AcoFascia™ Drywall Partitions reach up to STC 55 with the right boards and infill.

Is it fire-resistant?

Yes. Fire resistance reaches up to 120 minutes as per IS 3614 / BS 476.

Is drywall strong?

Yes. GI studs of 0.5 to 1.2 mm make a rigid wall that can carry shelves and fittings with the right fixings.

How high can a drywall partition go?

Up to 4500 mm, and higher with double studs.

Which thickness should I choose?

75 mm suits basic cabins, while 100 or 125 mm with infill suits conference rooms and studios.

Can it be customized?

Yes. Choose thickness, board type, infill and finishes like paint, laminate, veneer or fabric.

Is it easy to install?

Yes. It is a dry build, much faster and cleaner than brick or block walls.

Can it be removed or modified?

Yes. Drywall can be altered or removed with far less work than masonry.

Does it require maintenance?

Very little. Repaint or clean the finish as needed.
